Amar’e Stoudemire Avoids Ligament Damage, But Will Miss Game 3
New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire did not damage any of his ligaments after he punched a glass-enclosed fire extinguisher, but the All-Star will not play in Game 3. The Knicks will make their way home on Thursday to try to make it a 2-1 series, but they will have to do it without Stoudemire.
Knicks players expected Stoudemire to be out, and after several stitches, Stoudemire will in fact be watching the game on the bench.
“I am so mad at myself right now,” Stoudemire wrote on Twitter. “I want to apologize to the fans and my team, not proud of my actions. headed home for a new start.”
The Knicks lost Game 2, 104-94, and the franchise has now tied an NBA record for 12-consecutive playoff losses. New York needs to win Game 3 or else its chances of knocking off the Heat will be pretty much over. So now the burden falls on Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler to carry the load.
