New York Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire was fined $50,00 by the NBA for using a homophobic slur in a message sent to a fan on Twitter.
Stoudemire sent the fan a private message on the social networking site and the interaction came out when the fan (@BFerrelli) sent the exchange to Deadspin.
New York Times: “You better come back a lot stronger and quicker to make up for this past season,” and added a profanity at the end. Hours after sending his offensive response, Stoudemire sent the fan a follow-up message apologizing, saying, “Sorry bro!! No excuses. It won’t happen again.”
Stoudemire sent out a response on Tuesday apologizing for the comment and expressing his support "of civil rights for all people."
