Amar’e Stoudemire Says Not to Worry About His Back

In the New York Knicks’ 101-79 win over the Detroit Pistons, star forward Amar’e Stoudemire injured his back and had trouble staying on the court. Stoudemire dealt with back problems in the summer and he admitted that it took some time for it to reach 100 percent.

To make matter worse, this condensed schedule has taken a toll on the players and Stoudemire felt the results last night. The Knicks played seven games in 11 nights and during the Pistons game, the back stiffened up. Although coach Mike Woodson expressed his concern for his star player, Stoudemire is not worried about this set-back.

“Nothing to get worried about,” Stoudemire said. “There’s no reason I can’t play Monday (against the Milwaukee Bucks). We keep an eye on it, make sure it’s loose. It feels much better.”

The Knicks have been rolling since Woodson became head coach and the team is making a push for the top of the Atlantic Division. New York cannot afford injuries to their best players and need a healthy Stoudemire if it wants to pull off a first-round playoff victory.
