Anthony: “Time is Coming” For Knicks to Win Title
The New York Knicks were ousted out of the 2012 NBA Playoffs in the first round by the Miami Heat in five games, the same team that would eventually win the title. Carmelo Anthony, the Knicks’ star, took a lot of the criticism for the team’s loss and questions about his leadership ability emerged.
On that Heat squad was LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, two of Anthony’s close friends. Although he liked seeing his friends succeed, Anthony wants to share that feeling.
Anthony told reporters that there is an added motivation to win the championship after he saw the Heat hoist the trophy. The Knicks have the potential to be title contenders and it’s now the players’ responsibility to put in the time required to improve.
“I believe my time is coming,” Anthony said, adding: “Whether this year or next year, I truly believe our time is coming. We’re going to keep playing for that.” (New York Times)
The Knicks have a solid nucleus of players and if it weren’t for injuries, the team’s five game eliminated could have been radically different.
