A Ben & Jerry's in Cambridge, Mass. created a frozen yogurt named "Taste the Lin-Sanity" which included fortune cookies. Eventually the fortune cookies were changed to waffle cones, but the damage had already been done.
At first, the manager of the local Ben & Jerry's told the Boston Globe that the change was made because the fortune cookies got soggy, but later the store made an official apology to Lin on Facebook.
"We offer a heartfelt apology if anyone was offended by our handmade Lin-Sanity flavor," the store said. "We are proud and honored to have Jeremy Lin hail from one of our fine, local universities and we are huge sports fans. Our intention was to create a flavor to honor Jeremy Lin's accomplishments and his meteoric rise in the NBA, and recognize that he was a local Harvard graduate."
Jeremy Lin has proven all stereotypes false during this amazing run, but he continues to receive racial remarks. From writers who cover the NBA to local stores, there always seem to be comments that mock Lin and his ethnicity.
