Mike Bibby was not the big name point guard that Knicks fans were looking forward to seeing in MSG this season, but he may be the right point guard. Bibby officially signed with team on Sunday(12/11/11) for a one-year veteran minimum salary. Coach D'Antoni has acknowledged that even after signing Bibby, he still has intentions on keeping Toney Douglas as the team's starting point guard. Bibby's signing is championship building move, bringing in a guy that has deep post-season experience a big shot capabilities is always a plus. Bibby has undoubtedly lost a step in speed and agility but the limited role might serve him perfectly in D'Antoni's system. Pockets of minutes with bursts of knock down threes and set-up plays for Amare and Carmelo may be just what the Knicks were missing.

Bibby is not the same guy he once was back in '02 with the Kings, knocking down game-winning jumpers and dissecting defenses. If he can show glimmers of his former game, and can tutor Toney Douglas and Iman Shumpert to handle big spots in games, than the Knicks may have gotten a steal for their money.
