Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler Selected for 2012 Olympics
The 2012 Olympics in London are just around the corner and Team USA is looking to defend its Gold Medal from the 2008 Games. USA Basketball bounced back after a disappointing performance in 2004 and it is looking to reign supreme once again.
The 12 finalists were announced today and once again, the roster is star-studded. The team is filled with both young, athletic players and veteran leaders who will do whatever it takes to bring home another gold.
Two New York Knicks players, Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler, were chosen as members of the 2012 Olympic squad. Anthony has already played in two Olympic games, earning a Bronze Medal in 2004 and a Gold in 2008. As for Chandler, he will have to anchor the paint due to the lack of big men on the roster. Luckily for Team USA, Chandler won Gold in the 2010 FIBA Championships and has experience in international play.
Joining Anthony and Chandler will be Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James of the Miami Heat, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers, Deron Williams of the Brooklyn Nets, Andre Iguodala of the Philadelphia 76ers and Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
