The New York Knicks were once the center of the sports world thanks to a Harvard graduate by the name of Jeremy Lin. "Linsanity" was what the world called it, but may not ever happen again in New York City. This time, the extravaganza will likely head to the Lone Star State in the city of Houston.
The New York Knicks have until 11:59 p.m. EST Tuesday to decide whether or not they want to match the Houston Rockets' offer for restricted free-agent Jeremy Lin. The Rockets and Lin agreed on a three-year, $25 million deal, but after the acquisition of Raymond Felton the Knicks will likely not match it.
New York does not want to take on Lin's contract and face financial consequences down the road. The third year of the contract will give Lin about $15 million, and the Knicks do not want to make that type of commitment especially with the more punitive luxury under the new CBA.
Carmelo Anthony does not find that offer for Lin acceptable and he questioned the Rockets' choice of offering that kind of money, New York Post. “It’s up to the organization to say they want to match that ridiculous contract that’s out there.”
With Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni now in the backcourt, there is very little chance the Knicks will add another point guard.
