The New York Knicks went out and signed J.R. Smith once the Chinese Basketball Association's season ended, but one star was not in favor of adding Smith. Although Smith and Carmelo Anthony were teammates with the Denver Nuggets, Anthony did not want the Knicks front office to sign Smith, according to a source.
Anthony told the Knicks' management before to signing to stay away from Smith, but when the deal went through, Anthony was 'hurt.'
Smith has had a history of trouble on and off the court, and it seems as though that could have played a role in Anthony's opinion. Nevertheless, Smith is a Knick and Anthony must find a way to fit in with his newest teammate.
So far in this 2011-12 season, Smith has averaged 9.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game.
