Carmelo Anthony Isn’t Taking Blame for Jeremy Lin Leaving
Everyone knows what happened to Jeremy Lin this off-season. After taking over the sports world with his “Linsanity,” Lin signed a lucrative three-year deal, expect it wasn’t with the Knicks. The Houston Rockets inked Lin this off-season and many people were shocked that the Knicks decided not to match the offer.
The relationship between Carmelo Anthony and Jeremy Lin has always been put to question, so it is no surprise that many blamed Anthony for Lin leaving. However, if you ask Anthony if he buys into the idea, the 2012 Olympian will come back with an emphatic “no.”
“Believe it or not I’ve been one of the true supporters of Jeremy Lin,” Anthony said (New York Daily News). ”It is what it is,” Anthony said. “Anything that happens in New York they blame me. I accept that. I don’t really worry about it to be honest with you.”
Anthony talked about Lin’s departure before the Opening Ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics. His teammate Tyson Chandler was also present and he reiterated the fact that Anthony and Lin had a close bond. No one seemed to believe that Anthony supported Lin, but as a player in the locker-room, Chandler saw that connection. ”Carmelo was always supportive of Jeremy,” Chandler said.
Although Anthony and Lin did not play well together during their time on the court, that does not mean the two players did not get along. There is no doubt Lin will be missed in New York, and it is immature to think that Anthony is happy to have Lin off the roster.
