Carmelo Anthony Shares Moment with Michelle Obama
The United States of America is known for its avid sports fans and that is on display in London for the 2012 Olympic Games. Fans pack the basketball arena to watch the men play and they are almost guaranteed a thrilling game. Once the final buzzer rings, the fans continue to cheer and of course swarm down the stairs in hopes of getting an autograph. However, after Team USA’s group stage win over France, the players rushed to meet a particular fan in the stadium.
First Lady Michelle Obama was in attendance for the game, and she watched as USA beat France pretty handedly. The Obamas have supported basketball for many years now, and the First Lady made it a priority to see the best basketball players hit the court. Before the Americans headed back to the locker-room, each member of the team including the coaches went over and had a moment with Michelle Obama. Carmelo Anthony of the Knicks had a big smile when meeting the First Lady and the two shared a laugh, New York Daily News.
“She’s a Melo fan,” Anthony said on Monday.
Asked if Mrs. Obama said anything to him on Sunday, perhaps something along the lines of “you need to make more shots” or “stop fouling” Anthony laughed and said: “She told me to continue being happy and smile.”
The United States is expected to win gold in these Olympics and you can be sure that Michelle Obama will be cheering the men all the way through.
