Carmelo Anthony Thinks He Made Right Decision With Trade
New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony was one of the many NBA players who left small market teams to join ones in larger cities, and unsurprisingly he was lambasted by the media. However, Anthony has defended his move to the Knicks and talked about the topic with Newsday.
Newsday: ”I think I did the right thing,” Anthony told reporters Wednesday while promoting the release of his new Jordan Brand sneaker, Melo8, in Manhattan…
“For the average person out there who really thought I was just trying to get up and just leave for no reason, that really was a big key in my decision,” Anthony said about the lockout. “I knew free agency was coming, I knew it would be altered, I knew it’d be messed up, so imagine if I’d have stayed. I’d have been a free agent now in limbo.”
Although the Knicks lost a majority of their young stars, there are only a few players like Carmelo Anthony in the league. The Knicks went 14-19 after the Anthony trade, but you can bet they will be in contention for the NBA title with Melo and Amar’e Stoudemire as their nucleus.
