The Knicks beat the second best team in the NBA last night, the San Antonio Spurs, despite facing a deficit on the road in the fourth quarter. New York has not had much success in San Antonio, but it broke the losing streak thanks to the efforts from Jason Kidd and J.R. Smith.
However, TNT analyst Charles Barkley believes the Brooklyn Nets will finish with a better record than the New York Knicks once it's all said and done. The Nets stand at 5-2, whereas the Knicks are 6-0 even without Amar'e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert.
“The Brooklyn Nets will have a better record than the New York Knicks,” Barkley said during Friday morning edition of Inside the NBA.
Before the season started, Barkley referred the Nets as “the best team in New York.”
The Nets do have a very talented team, anchored by Deron Williams and Joe Johnson. However, the Knicks are clicking on all cylinders and this team has emerged as Eastern Conference contenders. Carmelo Anthony is becoming one of the best all-around players in the league and coach Mike Woodson has his players performing at an extremely high level.
