NBA legend and TNT analyst Charles Barkley believes Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin helped prevent the front office from firing Mike D'Antoni. D'Antoni had been on the hot seat for quite some time, but with the emergence of Lin and the Knicks' recent seven-game winning streak, it seems as though D'Antoni will stay with the Knicks.
"I think Jeremy Lin did save his [D'Antoni's] job because they were going nowhere fast." Barkley said on Monday on ESPN New York 1050.
Mike D'Antoni is often criticized for his lack luster defensive schemes and some people argue that if he had put more emphasis on defense, the Phoenix Suns could have won an NBA championship.
In Phoenix D'Antoni had Steve Nash to facilitate the offense and he finally received a talented point guard in Lin to help dish the ball to scorers like Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire in New York. If Lin continues to thrive in this offensive-heavy system, the Knicks could be a very dangerous team come playoff time.
