The New York Knicks did not extend the contract of Donnie Walsh despite being the mastermind behind the team's latest playoff squad. Walsh was the President of Basketball Operations for the Knicks and he helped land players like Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire.
Walsh was close to adding Hall of Famer Chris Mullin to the Knicks' front office, but last minute negotiations impeded a deal. However, Walsh and Mullin remained close and the recent Hall of Famer had some kind words for the legendary Walsh.
"He’s as good as anyone," Mullin said Monday. “I think it’s just a matter of if he wants to do it. And what I know of Donnie, he’s a worker. He likes to work. That’s part of his makeup. I haven’t talked to him about it but if you asked me I would think (Walsh will work again)."
There will be some upcoming team looking to make it back to playoffs that will ask for the guidance of Donnie Walsh.
