David Stern Sees Intense Knicks-Nets Rivalry

Written by on May 30, 2012 in News - No comments

The NBA will have two franchises in New York City starting in the 2012-13 season. One team, the New York Knicks will be in Manhattan, and a new team will be in Brooklyn, the Nets.

The Knicks-Nets already shared a rivalry when the Nets were in New Jersey, but that could intensify once the Nets move into town, something David Stern is hoping for.

"I think that we are going to have a great rivalry," Stern said. "I am hoping for more sparks -- a few verbal -- some build-up," Stern added.

"We are going to have two spectacular new buildings in New York City and we are going to have two very aggressively managed teams."

The Nets will still have to build their team if they want to compete with the Knicks. Although New York is not a championship contender, the front-office is moving much faster than the one in Brooklyn.
