Donnie Walsh Believes Knicks Can Win Title
Former New York Knicks President of Basketball Operations, Donnie Walsh, believes the team’s current core is talented enough to bring a championship to New York. However, Walsh also said the team needs to add a better supporting cast if they want to raise the Larry O’Brien trophy.
“We have a core of players we can build around to build a [championship-contending] team,” Walsh said. “We’re not finished. There’s more pieces. But I think we got some really good players that can lead a team and form a core of that team. What we have are the most important things.”
The Knicks did not renew Walsh’s contract at the end of last season, despite playing a major role in assembling the current Knicks. Walsh signed Amar’e Stoudemire in the summer of 2010 and brought Carmelo Anthony over to the Knicks in a block-buster trade last season.
