For the first time in history, the New York Knicks hosted a game against the Brooklyn Nets at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks and Nets have faced off with each other twice this season, but both of those games were held at the Barclays Center. New York has gone 1-1 against Nets since the move to Brooklyn and both of those games have been closely contested.

Carmelo Anthony and his Knicks welcomed the Nets to the world's most famous arena and the New York fans were ready to cheer on the city's "original" team.

First Quarter

The Knicks and Nets went back and forth in the opening quarter and neither team was able to put together a meaningful run. The Knicks and Nets matched each other's points and it looked like the game would remain fairly close for the entire 48 minutes. Still, the shooting percentages for both teams was quite low and the offenses were not running smoothly.

Even though the quarter was closely contested, that doesn't mean the teams were playing their best on the offensive end. At the 3:09 mark of the quarter, the Knicks held a 17-14 lead on 39 percent shooting, whereas the Nets shot 25 percent at that point.

The Knicks closed out the period well and Raymond Felton headed back to the bench after scoring on consecutive possessions. After 12 minutes of play, the Knicks held a 26-23 lead after a contested quarter with eight lead changes. Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton led the Knicks with eight points each and they were doing a nice job pressing the Nets on defense.

Second Quarter

The opening part of the second quarter wasn't much different than the first quarter, as the Knicks and Nets traded baskets. The defense in the game was quite impressive and that had a major impact on the low shooting percentages. Nevertheless, neither team could create separation and the Knicks and Nets remained neck-and-neck.

J.R. Smith did a nice job carrying the Knicks in the second quarter and with Anthony on the bench, they needed him to produce on both ends of the court. With 7:20 left in the half, the Knicks had a mere 37-36 advantage.

The Nets went on an 8-0 run in the second period led by Joe Johnson, but the Knicks responded very well and put together a run of their own. It seemed like the Nets would develop a cushion heading into half-time, but New York did not let the Johnson outburst drain their momentum.

Through two quarters, the Knicks held a 52-48 advantage after their strong final minutes of the second period. Carmelo Anthony led the way with 17 points, and as a team the Knicks shot 48 percent from the field.

Third Quarter

The Nets came out of the locker-room focused and they played well in the opening part of the period. The Knicks were on the verge of expanding their half-time lead, but the Nets fought to gain back the momentum. Joe Johnson continued with his hot hand and the Knicks had trouble limiting him on the offensive end.

Deron Williams was also hurting the Knicks with his skill-set as he was able to create easy shots for himself and his teammates. At the 6:42 mark of the period, Williams had nine early points and the Nets were up 61-57.

However, the Knicks got their act together after the timeout and the eventually regained the lead thanks to some incredible defensive possessions. New York relied on the three-point shot to erase the deficit and the Garden crowd never let the team get down or become uninspired. With 4:54 left in the third, the Knicks were up 62-61.

Heading into the final period, the Knicks took complete control of the game and went on an 18-6 run to open up a 75-67 advantage. Tyson Chandler dominated the paint for the Knicks and his incredible play allowed New York to claim the largest lead of the game.

Fourth Quarter

The Knicks continued with their stellar play in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter and momentum was completely on their side. The Nets had no answer for New York's outburst and the Garden crowd erupted after Smith gave the Knicks a 12 point lead at the 9:06 mark.

Brooklyn did make the game interesting and its three-point shooting allowed the team to remain in striking distance. However, the Knicks were not willing to relinquish their large advantage and they made plenty of timely baskets. Carmelo Anthony was reinserted into the game at the mid-way point of the quarter, and he was determined to guide the Knicks to victory.

The Knicks kept their foot on the gas pedal and there was no loss of focus on their part. Brooklyn was never able to get back into the game and New York dominated the final period.

As the final buzzer rang, the Knicks walked off the court victors, 100-86. Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks in scoring with 31 points, followed by J.R. Smith with 19 points and Tyson Chandler with 16 points. As a team, the Knicks hit 11 three-pointers and shot 46 percent from the field.

The third chapter of the Battle of New York will take place at Madison Square Garden tonight, but Carmelo Anthony may not be able to play.

Anthony is currently dealing with a sprained left ankle and is a game-time decision for Wednesday night's duel. However, according to ESPN New York, Knicks coach Mike Woodson believes his star might try to play through the pain.

Carmelo Anthony is a game-time decision, but Knicks coach Mike Woodson said his star player might try to give it a go tonight against the Nets.

"He's moving around pretty good, so we'll see," Woodson said after the morning shootaround. "He still hasn't indicated that he's going to play. I think he's going to come out and warm up, and just see how he feels."

Anthony has already missed two games due to the ankle injury, something he hurt in the Knicks' big win over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Knicks have gone 1-1 with Anthony out, and if he misses a third consecutive game, Chris Copeland will likely get the start.

The Knicks will host the Nets for the first time since they moved to Brooklyn tonight in the World's Most Famous Arena. The Knicks and Nets have split their first two meetings and if tonight's game will be anything like the past two, fans should be in for a treat.

The New York Knicks welcomed back Jeremy Lin to Madison Square Garden on Monday, the same place where Lin emerged as an international superstar. During the height of "Linsanity," Lin led the injured Knicks to an amazing run and he took over the sports world.

Lin played very well with Tyson Chandler and those two had great chemistry while on the court. However, on Monday night those two were on different teams, and Chandler made that clear with his flagrant foul on Lin.

Jeremy Lin and the Rockets had the final laugh as Houston handed the Knicks their first loss in New York City.

Even though the Knicks have been led by players like Jason Kidd and Carmelo Anthony, they are missing front-court offense due to the absence of Amar'e Stoudemire.

Stoudemire injured his knee before the season started and he has not played a single game for the Knicks yet. Stoudemire is inching closer and closer to his return and the Knicks are expecting to have him back on the court in the coming weeks.

SI.com reports that Stoudemire scrimmaged with the Erie Bayhawks, the Knicks' D-League affiliate.

Stoudemire scrimmaged with Erie, the Knicks' NBA Development League affiliate, which was practicing at the Knicks' training center. The Knicks weren't planning to have a full-court workout, so they decided to give Stoudemire work with the BayHawks.

At this point, the Knicks do not want to rush anything with Stoudemire and they will make sure he gets back on the court once he reaches 100 percent. New York is playing amazing basketball right now, but at this point no one is sure how far the team can go with Stoudemire on the sidelines.

The New York Knicks guard has released a music video for his song "Anarchy" featuring PhlyyB. Shumpert is coming off a release of his "Knicks Anthem," a well-written song by the second-year guard.

Shumpert is currently sidelined due to a knee injury and his return is still unclear. However, once he gets back on the court the Knicks will only get better and become an even deeper team.

The New York Knicks could not finish their road trip on a high note as they lost to the Chicago Bulls in the Windy City. The Knicks were riding a five game wining streak prior to the match, but they could not trump the Bulls who were led by Luol Deng and Marco Belinelli.

Deng and Belinelli each scored 22 points for the Bulls and played very well against the talented Knicks team. New York was coming off an amazing victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday, but it could not grab a second consecutive win without Carmelo Anthony.

Raymond Felton led the Knicks in scoring with 27 points, followed by J.R. Smith with 15 points but he had to do it on 4-14 shooting. As as a team, the Knicks shot only 32 percent from the field and hit eight three-pointers.

Bulls Projected Starting Line-up

PG: Kirk Hinrich
SG: Marco Belinelli
SF: Luol Deng
PF: Carlos Boozer
C: Joakim Noah

The New York Knicks return to the basketball court after their 20-point rout of the defending champions, the Miami Heat. The Knicks stole the game on the road without Carmelo Anthony and proved to the world that they are capable of beating the elite teams of the league.

In tonight's game, the Knicks will match up with the Chicago Bulls who currently sit at the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference. Chicago battling injuries to key players, so the team the Knicks play tonight will be very different from the one they may face down the road.

Front court:

With Derrick Rose out of the lineup due to injury, the Bulls' front court has had the responsibility to fill the void. Joakim Noah anchors the paint for the Bulls and he is the emotional leader for them on the court. Even though Noah is limited with his offensive moves, he gets easy looks at the basket due to his incredible rebounding skills. In the Bulls' previous game, Noah scored 30 points and grabbed 23 rebounds, proving just how dangerous he can be.

Carlos Boozer is the other big body the Knicks have to deal with in the paint, but luckily for New York, he is not as effective on the defensive end as Noah is. If the Knicks want to attack the paint, they must make it a priority to challenge Boozer. However, Boozer is averaging 14.1 points per game, a player that should be accounted for on the offensive end.

Luol Deng is perhaps the Bulls' best scorer and he has been carrying a lot of the load with Rose out of the lineup. Deng has the ability to explode on offensive at any given time and he will cause a lot of problems for this Knicks team. Deng can stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, but he can also drive the lane for easy buckets.

Back court:

The Bulls' back court is not as explosive as it was when Rose was on the court, but Kirk Hinrich has done a solid job producing at the point guard position. Hinrich is no way the same player as Rose is, but he has been very effective for this Bulls team. Hinrich is averaging 6.8 points and 5.8 assists per game, and he will be a tough cover for the Knicks. Hinrich is a great play maker and he can hurt the Knicks with his outside shooting.

Marco Belinelli has replaced the injured Richard Hamilton in the starting lineup and his primary focus on this team is to shoot perimeter jumpers. Belinelli is pretty limited at other spots on the court, so the Knicks should not worry too much about him. However, if Belinelli gets an open look at the basket, there is a good chance the Bulls walk down the court with three points.

Keys to Victory:

1. Carry momentum from last game: Even though the Knicks last played on Thursday night, their win over the Heat was definitely a confidence booster for everyone on the team. If the Knicks can keep their confidence level high they should easily beat the Bulls in tonight's game.

2. Stick with the offensive system: The Knicks have a tendency to steer away from the offense and they struggle in games when there are too many isolation plays. If the ball continues to move on the court and the Knicks have a balanced attack, they should walk away with their 15h victory.

The New York Knicks won't know if they have Carmelo Anthony in the lineup on Saturday until shortly before tipoff for their game against the Chicago Bulls.

Anthony is a game-time decision due to a laceration on his left middle finger.

Anthony injured the finger in the Knicks' game against the Charlotte Bobcats and he was forced to sit on the sidelines for the Knicks marquee game in South Beach. The Knicks ended up routing the Miami Heat by 20 points, meaning they can still win games without their leader.

Even though the injury occurred on Anthony's non-shooting hand, the Knicks should not take any risks with the finger. New York is one of the best teams in the NBA and they need Anthony to be 100 percent healthy in order to make a deep playoff run. The Bulls are a solid Eastern Conference team, but there is no need to rush Anthony's return for a game that the Knicks should be able to win.

New York Knicks second year player Iman Shumpert is currently sidelined due to a knee injury and the team is greatly anticipating his return. Shumpert was one of the Knicks' best perimeter defenders last season and he proved that he can be a reliable player to the coaching staff.

At this point of the season, the Knicks are the best team in the Eastern Conference with a 14-4 record and many expect the team to get better once Shumpert returns. In the meantime, the explosive guard is looking to explore other skills and his release of the "Knicks Anthem" proves that he may have a career outside basketball.

The New York Knicks put the world on notice last night when they beat the Miami Heat on the road without star Carmelo Anthony. New York torched the Heat for 112 points and held the opponent to only 12 points in the fourth quarter.

As a team the Knicks made 18 three-point shots and they showed everyone just how talented and dangerous they can be. Knicks coach Mike Woodson always had faith in this Knicks team and he believed that they could eventually knock the Heat off the Eastern Conference throne. Woodson spoke to ESPN New York and he talked about the Knicks' chances of eclipsing the Heat in the conference.

"I think it's out there, there's no doubt about that," Woodson said of the notion that the Knicks can finish atop the Eastern Conference, above the Heat. "I've been pushing all along with this team (that) we've got to stay at the top of our division and try to win our division and try to host first round at home."

At this point, the Knicks are the sitting atop the Atlantic Division and are the best team in the Eastern Conference with their 14-4 record. This team is very skillful from top to bottom and their reserves can take over games offensively at any time. From Steve Novak to J.R. Smith, the Knicks can rely on many players aside from Anthony to score.

There is no doubt the Knicks are playing extremely well on both ends of the court, but there still remains one question left unanswered. How will the Knicks play when Amar'e Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert return?
