Hall of Famer Jack Twyman Passes Away at 78

Basketball Hall of Famer and former NBA analyst Jack Twyman passed away on Wednesday at a Cincinnati hospice. Twyman, 78, died due to complications from an aggressive form of blood cancer.

Although Twyman spent 11 seasons with the Rochester Royals, he will be remembered by Knicks fans for one famous call. During the 1970 NBA Finals, the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers battled in a seven-game series and Twyman was live for the final game.

In Game 7, the Knicks had the presense of Willis Reed for only a few minutes, but he provided an emotional spark for the team. Not many people knew Reed was going to play, and it shocked the entire country when he walked through the tunnel at Madison Square Garden.

Twyman stopped himself mid-sentence and announced that the captain had made his way to the floor.

Our best wishes to the Twyman family.
