Happy Birthday John Starks
Today, August 10th, marks the 46th birthday of New York Knick legend John Starks. Starks was a fan-favorite at Madison Square Garden for his incredible leaping ability and explosive offensive skills. Starks did not hear his named be called on draft night, but he made his NBA debut with the Golden State Warriors in 1988.
However, the next season Starks released by the Warriors and decided to sign with the New York Knicks. Starks then spent the next eight seasons in Manhattan, and helped the Knicks make multiple playoff runs. During his time in the Big Apple, Starks averaged 14.1 points per game, 3.9 assists per game and 2.6 rebounds per game.
John Starks will forever be remembered for his dunk on the Chicago Bulls during Game 2 of the 1993 Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks had a mere three point lead in the waning moments of the game, but Starks iced the contest with his monster dunk. This leaping spectacular is replayed to this day, and Michael Jordan will never forget the day when a 6-3 guard threw it down on him.
