Happy 91st Birthday to the Late, Legendary Red Holzman
Today marks the 91st birthday of the Late, Great Red Holzman. Holzman coached the Knicks to their only two franchise championships, one in 1970 and the other in 1973. Under Holzman, players like Walt Frazier and Willis Reed became the game’s biggest stars.
Holzman was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1920 and spent the majority of his adult life involved with the Knicks, whether as a coach or team executive.
Holzman was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986 for his stellar NBA coaching career. Along with his two NBA championships, Holzman had a winning percentage of 53% and nearly 55% in the postseason.
Coach Red Holzman will forever be remembered as a great man and for his contributions to the Knick franchise.
