Jeremy Lin will be taking his talents to Houston for the 2012-13 season and "Linsanity" will hope to continue in the Lone Star state. It is yet to be determined if Lin can get back on track with the Rockets and produce the same way he did for the Knicks.
New York was the center of the sports universe during Lin's reign and it was something we may never see again. Although Lin is getting a second chance with the Rockets, he admits that there was a desire to return to Madison Square Garden.
Lin is no doubt willing to play for the Rockets, but his first choice was to come back to the Knicks. New York gave Lin a chance to start in the NBA and it is the reason why he received world-wide fame.
"Honestly, I preferred New York," Lin says (Yahoo! Sports). "But my main goal in free agency was to go to a team that had plans for me and wanted me. I wanted to have fun playing basketball. ... Now I'm definitely relieved."
The Knicks wanted to match the Rockets' offer for Lin, but it would have come back and haunted them severely down the road. Lin would have been a nice piece to the puzzle, but the Knicks could not afford his large salary.
The team will move forward with Raymond Felton as the starting point guard and hopefully he can play at an elite level. "Linsanity" was great while it lasted and no Knicks fan will forget that incredible stretch by the Harvard graduate.
