The New York Knicks have given permission to Donnie Walsh to speak with other teams about an executive position, CBS Sports reports.
Donnie Walsh helped rebuild the Knicks during his tenure with the franchise and acquired Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony in that time. Although Walsh's contract was not renewed, he left a lasting impact on the team.
Walsh is now a consultant for the team but this report indicates that the Knicks are willing to let Walsh move on.
"Donnie's very interested in continuing to work on a full-time basis," Walsh's agent, Steve Kauffman, told CBSSports.com.
Walsh should have been given the option to stay long-term with the Knicks, but instead he was left without a deal. Walsh can make an immediate impact for any team and his services will surely be wanted.
