Knicks Injury Update: Melo is Pain Free and Will Play Tonight
Knicks superstar forward Carmelo Anthony was on fire against the Wizards on Friday, he finished the game with 37 points, a game-winning three-pointer, and a sore lower back. Anthony played 31 minutes the next night against the Pistons and scored only 13 points in the Knicks blowout win. Fans should be relieved to hear that ‘Melo’s injury will not keep him out of tonight’s rematch versus the Charlotte Bobcats. ‘Melo spent his football Sunday rehabilitating his body, his recovery was extremely rapid, in fact he tells the media today that he is virtually “Pain Free”.
“I missed the football game, I’m mad about that,’’ Anthony said. “But my body is more important.’’
“I’m good, I’m pain-free,’’ Anthony said. “I had yesterday to get right. On the plane after the Detroit game, I got a chance to get right.’“We’re trying to build something from the last two games,’’ Anthony said. “We want to start protecting our home court and it starts tonight.’’
The Knicks have lost two straight at the Garden, including last Monday’s loss to Toronto. Their lone victory at home is on Christmas vs. the Celtics.
Anthony said he realizes visiting players come here wanting to do well on the Broadway stage.
“We got to stop that,’’ Anthony said. “Even when I used to come here, it’s Madison Square Garden. You want to put on a show. We got to stop that mentality. When teams come in here, we want them to think twice.’’
