DailyKnicks has been keeping a close-eye on the circus that is this shortened season free-agency period. The Knicks top target was former player Jamal Crawford, second on that list was Shawne Williams.
The Knicks roster is currently at 13, they're trying fill out the remaining spots for the squad as soon as possible. They also were targeting Mo Evans from the Hawks, but reports today indicate that he is staying in Atlanta after all. Shawne Williams has decided to sign with the Knicks cross river but soon to be borough enemy Nets.
Moving forward the Knicks have their sights set on former All-Star but often injured Michael Redd and Troy Murphy. Recently amnestied Baron Davis is also on the radar, but Amare has just voiced his opinion on BD coming to New York and it didn't seem like a welcoming comment. The positive to all of these scenarios is that the core of the Knicks team moving forward is intact. These pieces are exactly that, pieces to a puzzle. With only nine days until Santa gives every NBA fan their long awaited present, the Knicks need to move quickly to find a player or players to fill out the roster.
Knicks next two targets:
Michael Redd- Great shooter, and perfect compliment to star filled team. Injuries has crippled as of late, lets see if his health improves moving closer to the start of the season.
Baron Davis- Not the same explosive point-guard that he once was but still very effective with the ball. Baron has several issues though, we've just learned that his back problems are still around and he will miss six to eight weeks of this season. He also is a "Me" guy, he makes himself a better player, not the guys around him.
