Knicks, Mike Woodson on Verge of New Contract

Written by on May 22, 2012 in News - No comments

The New York Knicks and interim coach Mike Woodson are close to signing a multiyear deal that may be made final sometime this week, NBA.com. A person close to the situation states that the two sides are close to a contract and it looks like Woodson will be coaching the Knicks for a while.

Woodson took over the Knicks after the resignation of Mike D'Antoni, and he made an immediate impact on the team. The Knicks went 18-6 in the regular season and managed to win a game in the post-season.

Although Woodson made major improvements to the Knicks, many expected the franchise to pick another coach. Phil Jackson was rumored to be the next coach of the Knicks, but it now seems as though the team believes Woodson is the way to go.
