New York Knicks owner James Dolan announced Friday that the team will not extend Donnie Walsh's contract. Walsh was expected to sign a new deal later this week, but Dolan decided to part ways with the legendary general manager.
Walsh will no longer be apart of the Knicks' front office, but he will be a consultant for the team in the 2011-12 season. Even though Walsh acquired Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony in his tenure in New York, the franchise did not chose to continue with him.
Donnie Walsh joined the Knicks in 2008, and his goal was to bring the team to basketball immortality; however, Walsh will no longer be part of a possible future title team.
