Now that Baron has been a victim of the dreaded "Amnesty Clause" and has past through waivers, the Knicks will take a good look at the option of bringing him in. Baron has been very public about his lingering back problems, and last week we learned that he will in fact miss the first 6 to 8 weeks of this season.

Sources say the Knicks are all in if his disk issue is not major. They'd have the $1.4M veteran's exception to offer as they'd prefer to use the $2.5M exception on Travis Outlaw.
The Post reported today a source believes Davis could be on the court as soon as four to six weeks and that agent Todd Ramasar's 8--to-10 week prognosis may have been exaggerated. There's speculation Ramasar was looking to scare off the bidders of teams under the salary cap during the new amnesty waiver process.
"It's worth the risk of exploring it. I'm sure Baron's going to do everything, and the medical staff will look and see if it's and come up with a conclusion,'' D'Antoni said before the Knicks-Nets 2 p.m. preseason battle. "He's an interesting player, and I'm sure a lot of teams will be doing the same thing, evaluating whether, in a shortened season, whether that's worth it or not. He's a very good basketball player.''
