Mike Woodson Will Rely on Anthony and Stoudemire
The New York Knicks are now under the guidance of Mike Woodson and he is already making changes to the way the team runs its offense. With Mike D’Antoni, the offense was more fast-break oriented and required great ball movement from the players. However, it seems as though Woodson would rather have his stars dictate the offense.
Woodson coached the Atlanta Hawks a few years back and the offense was very isolation-oriented. Joe Johnson would often times use the majority of the shot-clock and try to beat his opponent one-on-one. And now in New York, Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire will do the same.
“I just think he’s going to utilize his leading scorers, myself and Carmelo,” Stoudemire said of Woodson. “He’s going to utilize us and take advantage of every opportunity out there on the court. We’ve been profound scorers all our careers, so he’s going to make sure he takes advantage of that.”
Anthony and Stoudemire will surely enjoy playing for coach Woodson, but we will have to wait and see how the other players will adjust to the change in system.
