NBA Officials and Players Union Meet in Manhattan

NBA league officials and the NBPA (Players Union) will meet today in Manhattan to conduct a negotiation session for the first time since August 1st.

This meeting will feature only high-level personnel of both parties; for the league David Stern, Adam Silver and Peter Holt will attend and Derek Fisher and Billy Hunter will represent the Players Union. The conference should be seen as a positive sign as both sides are trying to limit media coverage and small negotiating groups tend to lead to more serious labor talks.

The next full labor meeting’s date is still uncertain and the parties have said that Labor Day is the deadline to make some progress in signing a new CBA.
