Every city’s dream is to have its sports team to shine and eventually bring home a championship. New York City has a penchant for sports treasures and it has been spoiled with both football and baseball titles. However, its beloved NBA team has seen decades go by without ever hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy.
The last time the Knickerbockers brought glory to the city of New York was back in 1973 when Walt Clyde Frazier was still the best dressed man in the team’s roster. Since that illustrious season, the streets of Manhattan have witnessed embarrassing moments and players that should be erased from Knicks history.
This decade especially has forced fans to hide their faces and hold back their die-hard emotions for the Knicks. Isaiah Thomas and Stephon Marbury brought complete disaster to Madison Square Garden, and fans try hard to get rid of the memories those two individuals brought.
Then on one summer day in the year 2010, a tall, athletic big man took the challenge of becoming the savior of New York Knicks’ basketball. The Cypress Creek High School stud Amar’e Stoudemire instantly brought the Knicks out of the basketball dungeon and into the light.
STAT and the Knicks were poised and confident in brining the Mecca of Basketball back to relativity.
