The New York Knicks added two high profile point guards this off-season, but they did sign another playmaker who is not well known in the States. Everyone has heard about the additions of Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton, but the acquisition of Pablo Prigioni has taken a backseat. Although Prigioni has been a hero for Argentina basketball, not many people in New York know what he can bring to the table.
In an interview with ESPN, Prigioni talked about the process of signing with the Knicks and what he can bring to the table. Although there weren't many rumors surrounding Prigioni, he did receive an offer from another team. Still, the lure of New York City and the prospect of playing for the Knicks was something the point guard could not turn down.
Q: Did you get any other offers to play in the NBA this season besides the Knicks one?
Prigioni: Yes, there was one other team, but my first option was always New York. I prefer not to say the other team.
Prigioni is currently playing for Argentina in these 2012 Olympic Games, so Knicks fans can get a little familiar with his style of play. Although the international game is different than the NBA one, a lot can be learned about Prigioni and what he is capable of.
Prigioni continued on to say that he is looking forward to playing with Felton and Kidd, and hopes to learn from his Knicks teammates. "I'll try to help the team with my style and listening to the coach indications," said Prigioni. He is 35 years old and although he is old in the NBA world, Prigioni can be a great addition for the Knicks.
