Phil Jackson Call Knicks ‘a Clumsy Team’
NBA coaching legend and 11-time champion Phil Jackson was rumored to be making a return to the league. Jackson retired from the Los Angeles Lakers after getting swept in 2011, but many people expected him to come back. A lot of reports pointed to a Jackson-Knicks reunion, but after New York signed Mike Woodson, that dream came crashing down.
However, according to Jackson this Knicks team was not poised for future success. Although he would have given the Knicks a thought if they had called him, Jackson did not like the makeup of the squad, New York Post.
Coaching legend Phil Jackson says in an upcoming HBO interview he would not have taken the Knicks job because he believed the Carmelo Anthony-Amar’e Stoudemire pairing has made for a “clumsy team.’’
“There’s just too much work that has to be done with that team,’’ he said. “You know? It’s just not quite — it’s clumsy. It’s a little bit of a clumsy team.’’
The Knicks need to add pieces to their team if they want to become NBA champions. Although Jackson would have made a great addition to the team, other players must be added.
