Its New Years Eve, which means the end of the old and in with the new. The Knicks would like to put these two old losses in California behind them, but before they can bring in the 2012 year, they will have to face the Sacramento Kings first. When the shortened NBA season schedule was released most Knicks fans would have penciled this game in as a "Win", but looking at the recent outings, one would beg to differ. The Knicks offense has been horrendous these last two games, they've managed to average only 80ppg and shoot 36% from the field. We've now learned that Amare will not be participating in this game because of a sprained ankle, now Amare hasn't played particularly well either, but most would rather him in the line-up that not.
The Knicks can easily lose this game tonight, with or without Amare. The Kings have been playing inspired basketball in their first 3 games, the record is equal to the Knicks, but the Kings effort in their losses was far beyond that of New York's. Sac Town has a plethora of scoring guards, adversely the Knicks guards has been the weakest position of their team.
Tyreke Evans vs. Douglas - Evans is one of the leagues young stars, and dominates the game with a controlled pace and slick scoring style. Evans is taller, stronger, and smarter on the court than Douglas, this is a match-up nightmare for the Knicks.
With Amare out, expect to see a rotating cast of Balkman, Josh Harrelleson, and Bill Walker when the Knicks go small.
Carmelo Anthony played very well in the last game versus the Lakers and realizes the importanct of not letting the team lose confidence with the losses. Expect to see a very aggressive 'Melo from the tip. he will likely see many double teams, so if the role-players can knock down open looks the Knicks might be able to steal this game.
