The Toronto Raptors have reached a verbal agreement with restricted free-agent Landry Fields on an offer sheet, Pro Basketball Talk.
Sources say that Fields will sign a three-year offer approaching $20 million. He cannot sign until July 11, which is the first day NBA players can sign new contracts.
The Raptors chose an expensive route to acquire Fields, but he is one of the best young players in the NBA. Fields is an all-around player and will surely help the Raptors.
However, if the Knicks do not match this offer sheet from the Raptors they will be forced to see Fields walk away. The front-office made an effort to exclude Fields from the Carmelo Anthony trade, but there is a chance they may lose him in free-agency.
Fields cannot sign a contract until July 11, and the Knicks will have three days to decide whether or not to match the offer once he signs.
