Every championship contender has the ability to attract free-agents based solely on its title chances. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat can offer players less money than other franchises, but often times sign the player as title contention as their biggest selling point.
The New York Knicks have not won an NBA title since the 1970s, but Ronnie Brewer believes this squad has a chance to reach the top of the NBA throne once again, HoopsWorld. Brewer had offers from many different teams, but he chose the Knicks due to their title possibilities heading into the 2012-13 season.
“A lot of different teams were reaching out to me and I was weighing my options,” Brewer said. “At the end of the day, it didn’t come down to money. It came down to the best situation for me, as a person and as a player. I wanted to go somewhere I could win and have success... You can go to a team that’s not as a good so that you thrive a little bit more, even though you’re losing, but that’s not fun to me. I wanted to go to a place where I could win.”
