J.R. Smith would like to return to the New York Knicks for the 2012-13 season as long as the money he made this season remains the same for the next.
Smith has a $2.5 million option with the Knicks, but if he opts out of his contract he can make much more money elsewhere. Other teams would definitely pay extra to get Smith's offensive explosion, a salary much higher than the $2.5 million with the Knicks.
Still Smith would like to remain with the Knicks as long as everything else is the same.
“I want to be here so I’m not really putting too much emphasis on it,” he said. “I got money now. It’s all about winning, and whatever is the best situation and the best fit really. If all things are equal, I’m staying.”
Smith can be unpredictable at times, but he will surely help the Knicks if he returns next season.
