Spike Lee recruited Tyson Chandler

Spike Lee is the unofficial Knicks spokesperson, he's always been on the fore-front of media outlet speaking about his Knicks. Spike spends more money than the average fan of any sport, so the Knicks give him more access than the normal ticket payer. During a pre-game warm up versus the Mavericks back in February of last season, Spike talked with Chandler and tried selling him on thought of coming to New York and joining up with the Knicks.

Marc Berman of the NY Post reports:

“Last year he was trying to convince me to come here in free agency as if he was the general manager or owner,’’ Chandler revealed. “We were talking before the game. I said, ‘Look, Spike, right now I’m a Maverick and chasing a dream, trying to go for a title. Free agency is the furthest thing from my mind.’ He definitely was planting that seed.’’

Spike Lee and Jack Nicholson are probably the only two fans of a team that could talk a would-be free agent into thinking of leaving a team and joining their team. Lee has been around for the good and bad of the Knicks, and sometimes may be over the top , but players know that his passion, heart, and intentions are always in the right place.
