Tyson Chandler Calls Jeremy Lin “Inexperienced”
The New York Knicks were the center of the sports world last season thanks to an undrafted guard out of Harvard. Everyone remembers Jeremy Lin and the phenomenon that will be forever known as “Linsanity.”
Lin was the face of the Knicks for quite some time and with Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire sidelined due to injury, Lin was the centerpiece to the Knicks’ offense. During “Linsanity,” Lin developed a strong bond with Tyson Chandler and those two formed great chemistry on the court.
However, Lin has moved on from the Knicks and is now a member of the Houston Rockets. The Knicks have also gotten over the loss of Lin and will be heading into the 2012-13 season with three point guards, Raymond Felton, Jason Kidd and Pablo Prigioni.
Chandler spoke to the New York Post and he talked about how Lin would not be able to run this Knicks offense. Even though Lin essentially saved the Knicks last season, Chandler does not see Lin leading a team with championship aspirations.
“Jeremy was a young point guard who was inexperienced, who brought a great light to the organization. But as far as being able to run the offense and putting players in the right position he just wasn’t there. We got some veteran point guards that are capable of doing that.”
The Knicks will have Felton as the starting point guard with Kidd and Prigioni coming off the bench. Last season, New York had Mike Bibby and Baron Davis backing up Lin, three guards who did not have a lot of success together.
New York has put together a very talented team and one would expect that the team will make a deep playoff run in 2013.
