The USA Men's Basketball team is gearing up to defend its Olympic Gold Medal in London this summer, but it will be facing a lot of obstacles. Dwight Howard was suppossed to be the team's starting center, but back surgery will keep him off the team. So Team USA will have to look elsewhere for a center.
As of this point, it looks like their search will stop in New York City. Knicks center Tyson Chandler has international basketball experience and he might end up being the starting center for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
"Tyson's the best teammate and then he's a guy who's easy to play with because he protects your basket. He doesn't need the ball. And he did a really good job when we won the world championships in Istanbul two summers ago," U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski said.
Chandler helped Team USA win gold in the FIBA World Championships and it looks like he will try to help our country win another in London.
