Tyson Chandler Doubtful for Friday’s Game at Milwaukee
New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler is doubtful for the team’s game on Friday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. Chandler sat out the Knicks’s game in San Antonio due to a hamstring injury he picked up versus the Mavericks, and could be on sidelined the next time New York hits the court.
With Chandler out of the lineup, the Knicks’ defense struggled mightily and they had trouble stopping paint penetration. To make matters worse, Jared Jeffries also sat out due to injury, and that put a major dent in the Knicks’ defense.
“They [Chandler and Jeffries] anchor our defense,’’ D’Antoni said. “That’s why we improved from last year to this year.’’
Chandler would like to return to the lineup as soon as possible, but he must listen to the medical staff. The Knicks would love to see him on the court, but it would not make much sense to risk further injury and jeopardize him for the post-season.
“I’d rather be out there, but I’d rather not be out three, four weeks and play it smart and listen to what [the doctors] have to say,” Chandler said. “I’m hoping it feels better but I’m listening to the doctors at this point.’’
Expect to see Chandler on the sidelines for the game on Friday, but don’t be shocked if his will to win propels him to a return sometime next week.
