The New York Knicks had a marquee match-up with the Chicago Bulls today, and the game had serious playoff implications. The Knicks came into the game without Amar'e Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin, but they had been playing great basketball behind Carmelo Anthony.
The Knicks held a 21-point lead in the first quarter and were in complete control of momentum. However, the Bulls made a major surge with Derrick Rose and eventually claimed the lead in the second half.
The Bulls went on to go up by eight points in the final minutes of the fourth quarter and were up by five with one minute left to play. It seemed like the Knicks' would lose a tough one, but thanks to four consecutive missed free-throws by the Bulls, the Knicks had a chance to send it into overtime. Anthony drilled a three with a defender in his face and he sent the Knicks into overtime.
In the extra session, the Knicks faced yet another deficit in the final minute, but once again Anthony came up clutch. The Knicks' star hit a pull-up three and the Knicks went on to win the game, 100-99. Anthony finished the game with 43 points, including the game tying three and the game-winning shot in overtime.
